March - "Green Wines"

This week at wine club our theme is "Green Wine."  When choosing the wines for this month I looked for wines who's labels say "made with organic grapes" and "sustainably farmed."  Luckily for me, the new Wine World store on 45th has a section dedicated to sustainable wines, so picking out wines was very easy.  What was challenging was finding wine that was "completely organic" meaning that no sulfites were added to the wines.  The myth is that sulfites are responsible for wine headaches however, this is has not been proven.  Although grapes and yeast will naturally produce some sulfites, wine makers add sulfites as a way to preserve their wine and give it a longer (than 6 months) shelf life.  When i asked the man working at the wine store about sulfite free wine he said they were all pretty bad.  I will try to find one before tomorrow to add into the tasting
- Cheers!
